Madi made her professional bow back in January, after signing for LOVB Austin at the tail end of 2024.
It was a new challenge for the 23-year-old, as well as for the team and the league as a whole, with Austin taking part in their inaugural LOVB Pro campaign.
But it didn’t take Madi long to adapt to her new surroundings, after making the step up from college volleyball.
Her first appearance came in Gameweek 1, as part of a Weekend with LOVB event at Houston’s Fort Bend County Epicenter.
It was a debut to remember, too. Despite being on the wrong end of a narrow 3-2 defeat to Houston, Madi racked up 27 points and 22 kills — more than any other player on the court. She also posted an ace, four blocks and eight digs.
The Katy-born star was then rested for Austin’s next match, owing to the quick turnaround time between games. Marco Bonitta’s side got their season up and running, though, sweeping Madison the following day.
However, that joy was somewhat short-lived, as the Texans fell to a 3-1 defeat against Atlanta the following weekend, despite Madi adding 10 more points to her total.
And the topsy-turvy nature of Austin’s opening month was evident once again in Gameweek 3.
Madi played a starring role as the team swept Omaha in Nebraska — receiving her first Player of the Game award as a result.
Only Omaha’s Vicky Savard could match the Outside Hitter’s 12 points, as she recorded 10 kills and two blocks, while hitting .450.
It was a pleasing end to a strong first few weeks of professional volleyball for Madi — and there was plenty more to come in February and beyond.
