Who are the United States’ opponents?
The U.S. Women’s National Team have been placed in Pool A for the 2025 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship preliminary round.
Joining them in that group are Czechia, Argentina and Slovakia, with the top two sides set to qualify for the final round.
If the USA finish first then they’ll face the runners-up in Pool E (Turkey, Canada, Bulgaria or Spain) during the Round of 16, while second place would see them play Pool E’s winners.
Where are the games being played?
Four venues across Thailand are hosting matches during the tournament, but all of the United States’ preliminary round games will take place at the Korat Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The 5,000-capacity venue was opened in 2007 and is typically used for everything from basketball and futsal to boxing and volleyball.
What time do the matches get underway?
US-based volleyball fans are in for some early starts if they want to watch their team’s Pool E matches!
All three of the United States’ games start at 7.30pm local time (ICT), which is 5.30am PDT.
Their clash with Slovenia takes place on Friday 22nd August, before a meeting with Argentina two days later (Sunday 24th August). An encounter with Czechia then follows on Tuesday 26th August.
Opposition guide
First opponents Slovenia have never previously featured at the Volleyball World Championship, but they shouldn’t be underestimated.
After all, Alessandro Orefice’s team only just missed on the Golden League Final Four, having placed fifth in the 2025 Women's European Volleyball League.
Argentina have their own recent successes to draw upon, too, after winning consecutive Pan-American Cups in 2023 and 2024.
And the United States will know all about Czechia, having just faced them in Rio de Janeiro during the Nations League preliminary round.
Czechia beat Erik Sullivan’s side on that occasion (3-2), but the United States ended up finishing higher in the rankings — placing eighth with their forthcoming opponents in 11th.
Anything else to know?
Madi can continue her rapid progress at international level over the coming days, having made her mark across the team’s recent Nations League matches.
She put in a number of impressive performances earlier in the summer, not least her eye-catching 32-point haul against Serbia in Belgrade.
The LOVB Austin star will hope for plenty more memorable displays in Thailand — starting with the United States’ opening game versus Slovenia on Friday.
